Memorial Day
is a day of remembrance and honor, dedicated to our fellow citizens who have chosen to serve our country by joining the military.
Yes, it also marks the “unofficial” start of summer and plenty of us will be spending the day at a BBQ, the beach or at a pool. And there’s nothing wrong with commemorating the day in this manner. While you are spending the day with your family and friends, take a few moments to remember those who have served (and those who still are) our country and gave their lives to ensure our freedom.
However, if you’re looking for ways to actively honor and help our our military members (both past and present), here are seven ways that you can do that:
- Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Make a tribute video
- Support or take part in Memorial Day Charity Runs
- Volunteer with Homes for Our Troops
- Contribute or volunteer for the Center for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
- Get involved with the Wounded Warrior Project
- Attend the National Memorial Day Parade

Veterans are not that we should remember, it is the fallen ones, the ones that died in battle. That is why it is called Memorial Day.
We honor Veterans on Veterans Day.
you can buy a Veteran a beer on Veterans Day, today is a day of remembrance of our fallen soldier during battles fought.
@ Chris Granja, don’t like it? Well take it elsewhere with your trash talk.
Oh the irony that so many men have given their lives, and left families and children to live without them, so people like Chris have the freedom to say what they want. Thank you for posting this Being Latino.
That pendejo Chris list wars that were civil. Perhaps you would prefer to live in Venezuela.
Chris – you are so wrong. Anyway try saying what you say in some of those nations and see how the governments there treat those that say bad things about those regimes. And don’t talk to me about Cuba because you have no idea.
Chris you are such an idiot…take your bullshit somewhere else, I can’t stand people like you be great full for your freedom we have here, because let me tell you it’s not easy when your spouse or father is deployed and this is coming from an army wife and daughter who’s father served 31years ….but thank you being Latino for your posts about our military
