Shakira??? 0.o I love her music, but Hispanic educational advisor to the President of the United States?? Her obvious under qualifications are a little embarrassing…
Great Singer… However she is not the right choice, she doesn’t have the experience or perspective of Latinos born in America..
I don’t think so.Another innate stupidity of the White House resident ..Uff!!
I see nothing wrong with appointing Shakira to the Advisory panel. What qualifications are needed for this position? She is not expected to reform curriculum and assessment. Her role is to inspire young Hispanics to take education seriously. Because of her celebrity and popularity, young people will listen to her message more readily than they would someone else who might have educational degrees galore but no name recognition among young Hispanics. Obama was wise to appoint Shakira to the advisory panel.
I like Shakira because she is both a great singer and she has a very nice body. `

One of the other people appointed to this committee was Dr. Mildred Garcia, an American of Puerto Rican extraction who has served as president of CSU – Dominguez Hills and currently CSU – Fullerton. Dr. Garcia grew up in this country and has had years of formal training in education. She knows the U.S. education system thoroughly and has achieved many accomplishments within the education system. With all due respect to Shakira, how can someone who never bothered to earn a degree serve as an inspiration for Latinos to educate themselves?
