Protect IP/ SOPA explained [video]

As you’re surfing the web today (1/18), you’ll notice that many of your favorite websites, that you visit on a daily basis, are blacking out their sites. The reason they are doing this is to protest the PIPA and SOPA bills that – if passed – would give the government and companies the power to censor the internet.

These bills will allow for the creation of an official internet directory, where only those sites that don’t “infringe on any copyright” will be featured.

If you’re a little unsure of how these bills could affect you, check out this video.

A full list of websites participating (and how you can participate) in the protest can be found on SOPA Strike.
