According to the Webster’s Dictionary, Respect is defined as “taking notice of; to regard with special attention to; to care for; and/or to heed.”
Last night we saw a tremendous demonstration of someone showing extreme lack of respect.

Kanye West, not surprisingly, made a scene after he felt that Taylor Swift’s award should have been granted to Beyonce during last night’s MTV VMA Awards Show. We should all look up to Kanye to serve as an example of what NOT to do when you disagree with a decision that has been made. Although there is no such thing as “bad publicity” (or so they say) in Hollywood, I, along with millions of other Americans, now look at Kanye West as someone who has n0 class.

I didn’t write this to bash Kanye, I wrote this because as of late I’ve seen a parallel to Kanye’s behavior on the page. I’ve seen many people on Being Latino who speak with a lack of respect and class when they disagree with others. Mi gente, it is ok to disagree with people, it is ok to disagree with me–that is why I created this space. BUT when you feel the need to attack someone because you think that that is the best way to get your point across, you look just as bad as the guy below…

As I’ve stated, Being Latino was created to serve as a communication platform for us all. I encourage discussions, different points of views, and general opinions to help get people’s brains ticking. There is nothing wrong with sharing your point of view; just remember to share with class.

Great professional response!
Ahh, Great Post. And couldnt agree more with the tie into Being Latino page with regards to how one should disagree “properly”…
Nice Job, Lance.
I agree completely…there are going to be many debates as we are a very diverse group under the “Latino” flag. it is not important what you believe…it is all about how you articulate it.
here is a link talking about what would have happened if Kanye would have interrupted a Latina instead.
