Fashion… It’s what separates us from the primates, and in a city like New York, it’s what defines our everyday existence. For some it’s the difference between landing that job interview or not; getting a first date with that hot person across the bar from you; nailing that audition you just went on; or even who you hang out with on a Friday night. In NYC we live, eat, breathe, and sleep fashion, and while we all may not be able to afford the latest lines from 5th and Madison Avenues, we have the benefit of knowing how to look the part without spending a month’s salary on just one pair of shoes.
Part of that savvy is knowing not only where to shop, but what brands to buy, and another benefit of New York life is having plenty of options when it comes to local, up and coming designers. Local fashionistas have made the scene what it is today, many of those same top 5th and Madison Ave shops, started with very similar roots. As supporters of local Latino arts, businesses, and culture, Being Latino is always on the lookout for the next big thing. We’ve joined forces with our friends over at Uptown Collective, who have similar fingers on the pulse of everything hip and trendy, and have taken their monthly #UptownLove series at Negroclaro Lounge, and transformed it into the Fashion event of the summer.
This upcoming Thursday, July 26th, at 8pm, we will be bringing you some fresh new threads from several local fashion brands. We will be showcasing the latest lines from Dé-Je, FL20, Armed & Dangerous, and Psyberia.
Nothing goes together with fashion like music, art and entertainment, and in the house on Thursday there will be plenty. We will be bringing you performances by spoken word artist Advocate of Wordz, music by Robert Rios, The Machine; live art, comedy and a few other surprises. The night looks to be filled with amazing talent, friends, and did I mention a one hour open bar featuring Nutcrackers? Suffice it to say it will be a night to remember, we hope that those of you within the area will be able to join us.
