Play Words with Friends? Your brain will thank you

A few months ago I lost a phone to an unfortunate lost-in-my-laundry incident. When I received its replacement I decided I would not download any game applications because I just don’t have that kind of time to waste. The one I missed most is Words with Friends. I could play against friends, family, even strangers all on my own time. But still my free time was limited, so I resisted. Turns out it was a bad move. Research shows that playing word games can help reduce your risk for memory loss and diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.

So there you go, anytime you feel guilty about wasting time playing games on your smartphone, remind yourself you’re actually working out your mental muscles. As for me, you can challenge me at libsjulia. Bring it!
