After a week of having a vacant Fan of The Week slot, we have finally found our second winner! Everyone, meet Victoria Valadez Cano. A Mexican-American born in Mesa, Arizona, now residing in Phoenix. Her father’s side of the family is native to Guanajuato, Mexico and her mother’s side, native to Texas/Mexico. She grew up the oldest of two children, having one younger brother.
Victoria enjoys being the matriarch of a large family, as the mother of seven and proud grandmother of seven more. She enjoys spending time researching her family history, her culture, and just learning about new things in general.
When asked what she loves about Being Latino, she replied “What I love about Being Latino is the diversity among the Latino culture. There are so many Latino groups that are racist among other Latino groups… not realizing that we should all embrace one another as one. We as Latinos should be proud of where we come from whether it be from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba etc. and teach our children to do the same.”
We are proud to have Victoria as our Fan of The Week. Someone who is proud of her culture, always yearning to learn more and making sure that her children acquire the same knowledge and pride that she has acquired throughout her life.
Congrats Victoria! Thank you for being a proud and loyal part of the Being Latino family!
