Being Latino Online Magazine: 2011 A Year in Review

This year, has definitely been Being Latino, Inc’s strongest year ever. Of all of our accomplishments in 2011, our Online Magazine has really stuck out as our “hub” of what we represent. What did we do this year that is so different to make such a HUGE difference? Well a few things…

We have acquired the talents of Chicago-based, Chief Content Officer, Libby Juliá-Vázquez. Libby has been overseeing the Online Magazine from the start of 2011 to present. In that span, she has managed a team of editors, 30 writers, has increased the total traffic of the online magazine by over 250%, and has managed all of our PR initiatives.

In addition to Libby, we have officially built our team of editors. Nicolle Morales Kern is serving as our Senior Editor out of Philadelphia, PA, and Eileen Rivera has been serving as our Copy Editor, based in Hudson County, NJ.  We have also picked up Ryan Almodovar, Director of Writer Development, based out of Lancaster, PA. Irma Sanchez has been our information detective, serving as Content Manager based out of Texas.

In addition to this team, we have a team of some of the Latino community’s most brilliant  writers: Adriana Villavicencio, Eric J. Cortes, Cindy Tovar, Nick Baez, Maitri Pamo, Daniel Cubias, Cristopher Rubio, and Luna Garcia. These staff writers range from a variety of backgrounds and professions, spanning from NYC to LA. We also have over 30 guest writers that submit content of various categories on a monthly basis.

Our team has worked  hard to give YOU relevant content. We appreciate the reads, conversations, and input of all of our audience and can promise to continue delivering.

We wish you all a very happy New Year and want you to be prepared as we have some really great content coming your way in 2012!

About Lance Ríos

Lancio (Lance) Antonio Rios grew up on the west side of Cleveland, Ohio. Lance’s long-time interest in Latino cultures and communities spiked when he accepted an internship in the South Bronx in New York City, soon after earning a Bachelor’s in Sports Management and Marketing from Bowling Green State University. After witnessing the diversity of the Latino culture in the area, he decided that moving to New York would be more beneficial. He has finessed many talents through working in English and Spanish-language media and has recently developed a Facebook fan page called Being Latino. Since May, Being Latino has experienced tremendous and exponential growth with support from Latinos who care about discussing history, culture and social issues. Since its conception, Being Latino has already harnessed over 60,000 fans with an additional 170+ Latino-based fan pages on Facebook, a following on Google Buzz, Twitter, YouTube and WordPress which collectively equates to over 100,000 in a year with a $0.00 budget.
