Being Latino Welcomes YOU to Latino Heritage Month

In Bolivia

Dear Being Latino Familia:

Being Latino, Inc. was launched in May of 2009 in an effort to create a unified platform to help educate, entertain and inspire Latinos across the global platform. Since its launch, Being Latino, Inc has accomplished a great deal for the Latino community. From on-the-ground events such as a fundraiser for the victims of Haiti, which raised over $2,000 in relief funds; to raising awareness and nearly $3,000 for the AIDs walk in New York; we have made our presence known. Along with those great deeds, Being Latino, Inc. has gained not only the attention, but the support of a plethora of Latino celebrities including: John Leguizamo; Bolivian President, Evo Morales; Eva Longoria; Danny Trejo; Dolores Huerta; America Ferrera; Wilmer Valdarama; Esai Morales; Willie Colon and many more.

In just over a year Being Latino, Inc. has grown to nearly 40,000 followers on the main Facebook fan page, with nearly 30,000 additional Latinos on its 160 Latino-based pages. Our YouTube channel and WordPress site have both received over 100,000 views and we currently have nearly 2,500 Twitter followers. In addition to our strong online presence, we have been in New York City covering major Latino events; marched in Phoenix, AZ against SB1070, and traveled to Bolivia and back using social media as a tool to reach the masses on green initiatives in Latin America… and we’re just getting started!

With so much more to be done we continue to focus on bringing you the best Latino blog on the internet.  We decided to re-launch the blog at the beginning of Latino Heritage month for a few reasons: We have made substantial improvements to process; added a new Ace-of-a-Managing Editor, Libby Juliá Vázquez, as well as a group of talented staff writers.  All of these changes are to assure that YOU have access to the best possible content. What better time to start off Latino Heritage Month other than that?!

From the bottom of my heart, I am grateful for all of the appreciation and support that Being Latino, Inc has received from so many loyal fans and look forward to the new supporters coming along. I believe that Being Latino has the momentum to create a unified voice for the people mobilizing social media as our weapon. Being Latino is a movement, a place for friends and familia, as well as a cultura of its own.

As always, the focus of this blog is to bring YOU, the fans of Being Latino, relevant, fun and intellectually-stimulating content. We have some of the best Latino/a writers across the nation on our team and we are extremely excited to share them with you.

As we grow, YOU will grow. Pa’lante!
