Great idea!
Obviously the Republicans arent celebrating…l
Sarah Palin. Michelle Bachmann. My Mother.
Well, real Americans don’t celebrate these nonsensical “months” because we believe that people should be judged by their actions and good deeds, and not what special interest group they happen to belong to.
I can’t remember when I celebrated anything outside my birthday, CHristmas, Easter, Good Friday, 4th, Memorial day, Veterans day, and New Years.
Define a “real” American.
Someone who is not anti American. They come in all shapes and sizes, colors, genders, and orientations, but the most important thing is that they believe in the exceptionalism of this great land regardless if we have problems.
Then celebrating women is not anti american. Isn’t celebrating women a form of recognizing a “good deed” but with a focus in a specific gender. And women don’t belong to a special group per se, they just happen to be female. The special groups, I think you are refering to, are usually a minority, women among them, and at one point were NOT recognized regardless of their “good deeds” by this “exceptional” country and yet they stood by it. That is why it is patriotic to recognize them by celebrating a month in their honor and by doing so makes you more American.
Mario, in many circles, you would not be considered an American because your appearance is that of a Brown, Mayan-looking, Obviously Non-Anglo, Non-White Person. You should be the LEAST divisive about patriotism and the MOST sensitive to racism.
Palo!!!
Cyrena, I love it! Thank you for being such an luminous personality – so full of social justice. Your insults are just the reason I keep on coming back to BL! You have put me in touch with the Mayan roots I never had! Who would of thought, me, of Asturian and Canarian stock would acquire native Amerindian blood! That’s a miracle – call the Smithsonian Institution – they must do a study on this – they are funded by the tax payer so I guess it’s Being Latino approved! I think I will create a calender and predict the end of the world!
Buenos Dias,
what size photo would BL like?
