Many folks seem to still be a little confused after Facebook announced it’s latest feature earlier this afternoon. Now users on Facebook, almost identically to Twitter, can mention someone by putting the “@” sign in front of their name while posting status updates.
For example: If you were going to lunch with me to talk about Being Latino, you would update your status as follows: “Going to lunch with @lance rios to discuss collaborating with @Being Latino.”

Now after you typed that in, I would automatically be notified that I was tagged to the update and I will see that Being Latino was as well. ANY of your friends can click on “Lance Rios” and/or “Being Latino” in your update, and they will automatically be re-routed to the pages.

I think that this is an awesome feature and look forward to using it… A LOT!

Does this mean that whatever gets posted on this blog is for all the Facebook Being Latino groups, no matter where they are from? Or is this a separate Being Latino enteprise? I’m tottaly confuse which is easy to do. I would like a way to contact all the Latinos in all the different Being Latino Facebook groups. Is there a way to do that? Have I asked you this already?

Hi I followed your tutorial with the “Old Facebook” and it worked perfect, but I don’t know how to do the @mention on the new Facebook Layout?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Warm Regards,
Michele
Michelle,
That didn’t change. It is still @friend’s name.
