The Dark Knight Rises…in Brazil?

Evil doers and ne’er-do-well beware – the Dark Knight himself is patrolling the streets of Brazil.

No, the caped crusader hasn’t left foggy Gotham City for the sunny sands of Sao Paolo, but the residents of Taubaté, Brazil have a new ally in the face of increased crime and violence. The mayor of Taubaté, faced with such problems, has recruited a former soldier to patrol the streets – dressed as the Batman.

Batman Brasil will be on patrol duty in the cities most dangerous neighborhoods, helping to fight increased murder and drug trafficking rates. While most police operations are still in the hands of the regular police (no Bat signals here), Batman will act as a liasion between citizens and law enforcement in hopes to foster peace and lower crime rates.

No word on whether the role of Robin, The Boy Wonder, will be staffed, but one can certainly dream.
