Love his views on identity! He’s totally right, we are labeled whether we choose to be labeled or not. But that doesn’t mean we have to adhere to only one label, we are a mix of identities and that’s what makes people so interesting!

I love his book of short stories “Drown.” My favorite is “Aurora.’ i just don’t know how this Dominican private school boy could have written that beautiful story about dope fiend love. I’m old now, almost 50, been in recovery for 18 years, but i have never read anything that captured the love I had of a pretty Spanish boy in my 20s. i was a mess & he was much worse but today I still love him like then & it hurts so much how wrong we were for each other. Junot, your writing means so much. I hope you have more to say. I’m listening.
