21 kidnapped oil workers rescued in Colombia

Twenty-one of the 23 oil workers that were kidnapped on Monday were rescued today. The workers, Colombian nationals, were employees of seismic contractor, South American Exploration. The FARC or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, which has been at war with the Colombian government since the 1960s, are said to be responsible for the kidnappings.

The victims were rescued by troops from the army operating in Vichada. They were sent out a force of 1,400 men to rescue the victims.

They remain on their search for the remaining victims, which could be one or two as the government reported 23 missing, but Talisman Energy reported 22.
